Maria Abonante (nee Fionda), age 97, ate of Schererville formerly of Riverdale, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Maria was born November 18, 1917 in Falconara Albanese, Italy. In 1954 her family migrated to the United States. She was the beloved wife of the late Francesco. Loving mother of Sara (Carmen) Debartolo and Ellen (Joseph) Conti. Cherished grandmother of Marc, Anna Maria, Michael, Dennis, Frank, and Anthony. Dearest great grandmother of ten. Dear sister of the late Joseph (late Sara) and the late Albert (late Lorraine) Fionda. Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was a loving and caring person and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Interment Assumption Cemetery.
