CHATSWORTH - The Funeral Of Cassie Ashman, 75, of Chatsworth, a retired farmer, school cook and restaurant employee, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Chatsworth. The Rev. Richard Hertenstein will officiate.
Burial will be in Chatsworth Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Culkin-Diggle Funeral Home, Chatsworth.
Mrs. Ashman died at 8:55 p.m. Monday (Nov. 6, 1989) at Saint James Hospital, Pontiac.
She was born Sept. 10, 1914, at Crescent City, a daughter of Melchert and Christina Taden Johnson. She married Arnold A. "Mike" Ashman on March 6, 1937, at Crescent City. He died Aug. 17, 1970.
Survivors include four sons, Gerald A., Kenneth R. and Harvey D., all of Chatsworth; and Wayne A., Pontiac; one brother, Wesley Johnson, Pontiac; and seven grandchildren.
Two brothers preceded her in death.
Mrs. Ashman farmed with her husband. After his death, she worked in several area restaurants, was a part-time cook for the Chatsworth School District, and was a baby sitter for several Chatsworth area families. She had lived in Chatsworth since 1973.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, the Women's Evangelical Lutheran Church Association, the Chatsworth American Legion Auxiliary, the Royal Neighbors of America and Chatsworth Loners Club.
Memorials may be made to her church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
