Robert W. Arenz, 77, formerly of 1112 E. Hickory St., died at 5:30 a.m. Monday, March 2, 1992, at a private nursing home at 1106 N. Bloomington St.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with a mass of Christian burial at St. Stephen's Church. The Rev. Peter Bolerasky will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Solon Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

Born May 19, 1914, in Leonore, he was the son of the late John and Susan (Pflibsen) Arenz. He married Marcella McAleese in 1936 in St. John's Church, Lostant. She died Oct. 18, 1969.

Surviving are a son, Jerry Arenz, of Minnetonka, Minn.; four grandchildren; brothers, John Arenz, of Rural Route 3, Streator and Carl Arenz of Streator; and sisters, Cora (Mrs. William) Wolfe of Rural Route 3, Streator, and Frances (Mrs. Joseph) Starkey of Streator.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Leonard, Arthur and Ralph Arenz; and sisters, Louise Heider and Mayme Lavender.

Retired from Thatcher Glass Manufacturing Company in 1977, he was a member of St. Stephen's Church. He attended St. Rita's School for the Deaf in Milwaukee, Wis., and was a member of the International Catholic Deaf Association.

Music for the mass was provided by St. Stephen's Grade School Choir, under the direction of JoAnn Cave. Scott Hozie was organist.

Monsignor George Dzuryo conducted cemetery rites at St. Stephen's Cemetery Chapel.

Serving as pallbearers were Rodney Hess, Dale Wolfe, Glen Wolfe, Norman Arenz, Steve Dell and Jeff Strecker.
