Mary (Holen) Bavolar Lakatos, 78, a resident of this locality for more than a half century, died at 8:30 o'clock Saturday night at her home. She had been in failing health the past six months.

She is survived by seven children: Anna (John) Negray, Mary (Dave) Hill, and Veronica (Andrew) Bednar, all of Streator; Elizabeth (Henry) Lieske of Ottawa; Dorothy (Glenn) Wisler of Lombard, IL; and George and John Bavolar, at home.

The decedent was twice married; her first husband, Andrew Bavolar, meeting his death in a local coal mine 40 years ago, and her second husband, George Lakatos, having died 26 years ago. There are 24 grandchildren, eight of whom are in the armed forces, and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was born October 13, 1864 in Slovakia, coming to this country when a girl and settling in the local community 56 years ago, where she spent the balance of her life.

She was a member of St. Stephen's Church, the Rosary Society, Ladies' Club and St. Mary's Society.

Funeral services will be held at 8:30 o'clock Tuesday morning from the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Negray, Livingston Road, and at 9 o'clock at St. Stephen's Church. Burial will be in the new St. Stephen's cemetery.
