Funeral services will be held Friday, November 2, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Little Pass Baptist Church in Charenton, for Charles Lafayette Olds, a native of Appleby, Texas, and a resident of Charenton, who passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at 8 p.m. at his home. Burial will follow in the Chitimacha Mausoleum. The Rev. Dr. Chris Holloway and the Rev. Bobby Hodnett will officiate the services.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Johnson Higgins Olds, of Charenton; four sons Robert "Bob" Olds and his wife, Sandra, of Livingston, Texas, Ricky Olds and his wife, Barbara, of Nacgodoches, Texas, Charles "Bill" Olds of Nacgodoches, Texas, and Steven Olds and his wife, Claude, of Houston; two daughters Carolyn Wallace and her husband, Doug, of Porter, Texas, and Patricia Hipps and her husband, Bill, of Morganton, N.C.; one stepson Vernon "Bubba" Higgins and his companion Darlene Toups of Charenton; one stepdaughter Elaine "Lulu" Higgins of Charenton; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and the mother of his children Betty Olds of Porter, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Larner and Beatrice Montgomery Olds; his sister, Alice Olds Fudge; and three stepsons Richard Higgins, David Higgins and James Higgins Jr.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Little Pass Baptist Church on Friday, November 2, 2012, from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of Heart of Hospice and to their special caregivers Elizabeth Toups and Todd Toups for the loving care they gave to Mr. Olds.
