Newell - Clarence B. Allison, 83, of Newell, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014 following a courageous battle with his family by his side. Born Jan. 1, 1931 in New Cumberland, W.Va., he was the son of the late Ralph and Dessie (Bowers) Allison. Clarence served in the United States Marines. He was a former sales and service representative for Globe Refractories. He was a member of the Newell American Legion. Clarence enjoyed wood crafts and working outdoors in his yard in his retirement; and he was a devoted member of the Newell United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ida "Punk" Allison; three brothers, Ralph, Bill and Blaine Allison; and three sisters, Catherine Rennix, Louise Britt and Marguerite Sfakis. Surviving are his son, Clarence "Corky" (Kim Raimond) Allison II of Ohio; a granddaughter, Melissa (Dr. Gino) Peluso and great-granddaughter, Ava Peluso. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 4, from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m., at the Nixon Funeral Home in Newell, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 5, 2014. Rev. Kara Rowe and Rev. Ethel Dunaway will officiate. Burial will follow at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens, Newell, WV. The Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will conduct military honors.
