Thayer Allison; Veteran Chester School Official
Tuesday services are planned for Allen Thayer Allison, 54, of Johnsonville Rd., Chester, veteran school principal, who died Sunday at home of an apparent heart attack. He was born in Pughtown May 30, 1932, a son of the late Kenneth Allison and Ruth Moore Allison. Mr. Allison had been principal of Chester Elementary School since 1959. He was graduated from West Liberty College and earned a master's degree at West Virginia University. He was a member of the West Virginia Education Principals' Association and the Hancock County Principals' Association. A member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, where he was serving as treasurer and had served as an elder, he also was a member of the Fish organization and the United Fund and was a past president of the Child Counseling Center and the Chester Kiwanis Club. He has served with the U.S. Army in Japan during the Korean War. He is survived at home by his wife, Sue Linger Allison; whom he married Dec. 26, 1959; a son, Vincent Allison, at home; a daughter, Kathy Allison of Rockville, Md.; and two brothers, Kenneth J. Allison of New Manchester and Norman Allison of New Cumberland. The Rev. Dr. George Espy, a former pastor of the church, is to conduct the services at 11 a.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel. Burial is to be in Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the chapel from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 tonight and until the services Tuesday. The family requests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Westminster Presbyterian Church.
