Charles M Alford, 85, of Chester [Hancock Co., WV] R.D. 1, a retired farmer, died Friday at 1:25 p.m. at City Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born in Barbour County, W. Va., April 7, 1878, to Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Alford, and resided in this vicinity for 40 years. His wife, Mrs. Celia Alford, died in 1936.
He is survived by six sons, Thomas Alford and Harry Alford of East Liverpool, Alford of Los Angeles, Everett Alford of Salineville, Lonnie Alford of Orlando, Fla., and Allen Alford of St. Louis, Mo.; two step-sons, Earl Cox of Newell and Vearl Dean of Chester, a step-daughter, Mrs. Ann Husted of East Liverpool, and 22 grandchildren 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at the Chester Arner Chapel by the Rev. Donald L. Rettgwer, pastor of the Pleasant Heights Baptist Bible Church. Burial will be at Shadow Lawn Cemetery, Newell, WV.
