Maria Magdalena Berger (also known as Lena) was born on April 1, 1791 at the Marienstern Convent near Kamenz, Saxony, Germany according to family records. Her baptism took place on April 1, 1791 in Crostwitz, Bautzen, Saxony, Germany. Magdalena's parents were Joseph Bernard Berger (owner of a stage coach station and innkeeper of Nucknitz and later Panschwitz) and Catharina Kutschank. She married Johann Anton Heink (son of Joseph Anton Francisco Heink and Antonia Francisca Rimpler) on November 24, 1812 at the Monastery Church of Marienstern. The officiant was Valentin Wilhelm. The Heinks had one child named Felix August. Maria sold beer at the forester's house (The Heinks' home) in Dresden-Friedrichstadt near the Ostra Preserve. Maria died at the forester's house on December 5, 1841. The cause of death was Pneumonia, and the burial took place on December 8th.

Notes:

1) It appears, from Johann and Maria Berger Heink's burial records, that iron rails surrounded their graves.

2) Maria's gravestone no longer exists. The plot belonged to the Herlitzin family from 1955 to 2002. After 30 years, graves are removed to make room for new ones.

3) The Saxony State Archives in Bautzen hold papers for Bernard Berger, inn owner of Panschwitz, dated 1835. They appear to be related to land bonds and the legitimization of his heirs. The Archival number 1211.
