Fannie L. Abram

Fannie L. Abram, 55, mother of slain Elyria woman Glaceria Abram, died Tuesday at Elyria Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Abram suffered a stroke Dec. 1, the day after her missing daughter's body was discovered in Medina County. She had been hospitalized in a coma since then.

Mrs. Abram was born in Mullins, S.C., and was an Elyria resident for 40 years.

She was formerly employed as a cook in the Loft Restaurant at the Higbee Co., and was a poll worker for the Elyria Board of Elections.

She was a active member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church, Lorain, where she ran the hot meals program and sang in the choir.

She was also a member and past worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star Sidonia Chapter 69. She was a Daughter of Isisel Hasa Court No. 47, Cleveland.

Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Edward, daughters, Mary and Lesteen, both at home, and Patricia of Indianapolis, Ind., sons Chris, at home, Edward Jr., and Hubert, both of Atlanta, Ga.; sisters, Bessie Trice of Elyria and Ruby Leonard of Syracuse, New York; and grandchildren.

In addition to Glaceria, she was preceded in death by her mother, Lena Mae Cummings in 1988, her father, Buster Blackmon, and a son, Lambert in 1977.

Friends may call 2 to 4 p.m. Friday in the Center Funeral Home, 127 West Bridge St., Elyria, and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the mt. Zion Baptist Church, Elyria.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church, with the Rev. Donald Newson officiating. Sidonia Chapter 69, Order of Eastern Star, will conduct services at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Abram Trust Fund for Glaceria's children at Elyria Savings & Trust National bank.
