Ruth Jeanne Adams Resident of Brentwood Jeanne Adams of Brentwood passed away on October 18 at the age of eighty nine. She was born in Nora Springs, Iowa on February 7, 1921 but spent most of her young life on a farm in Corning, California. She was one of six children born to Henry and Georgina Weitze. Her sister Shirley and her brother Wayne preceded her in death and she is survived by her siblings Keith, Betty and Bob. At the University of California at Davis she met her future husband Jack Adams. World War II interrupted their college education and UC Davis was closed for the duration of the war. Jeanne completed her science degree at UC Berkeley while Jack served his country in the Army Air Corp. They were married on May 10, 1944 in Berkeley, California and moved after the war to Brentwood where they continued to live for 61 years. Their only son, Douglas Adams was born in 1949. Jeanne served as a teacher for the Brentwood School District for twenty-nine years and was active as a volunteer in her community. She was a member of a number of community service organizations including the Brentwood Women's Club, the Brentwood Sorority, the East County Historical Society and the Brentwood Lion's Club. In addition, both she and her husband were active in the local school. For more than forty years they served as the public announcers for the Liberty High School football games and helped organized the annual Lions Club Fall Sports Awards Banquet. Jeanne also served her community by holding a number of leadership positions in these service clubs. In the last 15 years of her life, Jeanne was active in the Summerset senior community and continued that role well into her 80's. She was the recipient of a number of community and professional honors during her life. She was selected Teacher of the Year in the Brentwood School District and was honored as Brentwood Citizen of the Year. She was twice selected as the grand marshal for the Liberty High School Homecoming Parade and was recently awarded the Key to the City by the Brentwood City Council. Jeanne loved her family and adored her two grandchildren. She was particularly proud of all of their accomplishments and loved to share their accomplishments with others. She is survived by her husband Jack Adams, her son Douglas Adams, her daughter-in-law Jackie Adams, her granddaughters Vanessa Schasker and Sarah Adams and her son-in-law Todd Schasker and her many friends and extended family members. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, October 27 at 11:30 AM in the Clubhouse at Summerset I which is located at 1675 Crispin Drive in Brentwood. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to Adams Middle School
