Jacqueline A. Avery, 72, a resident of West Windsor, passed away Friday morning, February 24 at her home in West Windsor following a long illness.

She was born June 4, 1944 in Great Bend, KS the daughter of John and Frances (Slominski) Mainville. She received her schooling in Alpena, MI and graduated from Alcona High School in Lincoln, MI. She then attended and graduated from Eastern Michigan University earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, and later taught at Hardwood Union High School in Duxbury, VT.

Jacqueline married Donald F. Avery on September 28, 1968 in Waterbury, VT. Mrs. Avery worked as the Assistant Librarian and Children’s Librarian at the Windsor Public Library for several years. She also was employed as a substitute teacher at State Street School in Windsor. She was an accomplished photographer and artist. She loved and taught art, particularly photography, and owned and operated “Writing with Light” Studio, and had won many awards for her photographs and watercolor paintings.

She was a member and Eucharistic minister at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor, where she was also a member of the Catholic Daughters. Jackie was a member of the Upper Valley Camera Club, and the Paradise Park Committee in Windsor. She was fond of cooking, flower and vegetable gardening and proudly hosted several garden parties and tours at her home. She also enjoyed being outside in nature, and was quite active in hiking, swimming, skiing, dancing and running, completing several marathons. She was predeceased by her parents and by one sister, Marie O. Mainville.

Survivors include her devoted and loving husband of forty eight years, Donald Avery of West Windsor, three sons, Mark Avery and his wife, Dawn of Pine Grove, CO, Matthew Avery and his husband, Dennis of Salem, NH, Luke Avery and his wife, Brandy of Newport, NH, one granddaughter, Ashley Avery of Pine Grove, CO, three brothers, William Mainville of Alpena, MI, Paul Mainville of Barton City, MI and John Mainville, Jr. of Alpena, MI, four sisters, Francene Krentz of Hubbard Lake, MI, Jeannette Roloson-Palmer of Marengo, IL, Michelle Prough of South Boardman, MI and Yvonne Stoll of Lachine, MI and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Friday evening, March 3 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor. The Mass of Christian

Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 4, at 11:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor. Rev. Charles R. Danielson, Pastor, will be the Celebrant.
