Jayson Alexander Appleby, 40, Shady Pine Road, Willow Hill, died Sunday, July 9, 2017, in Milford, Delaware.

Born March 11, 1977, in Chambersburg, Franklin County, he was the son of Jay and Barbara (Hampton) Appleby of Willow Hill. He was united in marriage to the former Cher England May 29, 1999. Mrs. Appleby survives at home.

Mr. Appleby is survived by three sons, Wyatt, Wade and Walker Appleby, all at home.

He is also survived by a sister, Sherry Harris and husband, John, of Fannettsburg; and several nieces and nephews, Ronnie, Brooke, Kyler and Abigail Harris, and Vaughn, who was Mr. Appleby’s godson, Nathan and Evan England. Several family members survive in the Neelyton and Burnt Cabins areas.

Mr. Appleby was a member of Shady Pine Mennonite Church, Willow Hill.

He was a member of George Washington Lodge 143, F&AM, Chambersburg.

Mr. Appleby was a criminal investigator with the Pennsylvania State Police for the past 18 years.

He was an avid baseball enthusiast who played baseball at Allegany College of Maryland, Cumberland, Maryland, and later coached with several programs, including the Renegades Athletic Club, Chambersburg, junior high baseball coach at Fannett-Metal High School in Willow Hill and with the Path Valley Pony League. Mr. Appleby also served as assistant junior high boys’ basketball coach at Fannett-Metal. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a loving father and dedicated coach, who spent his life assisting and promoting youth baseball programs.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 14, at the Shady Pine Mennonite Church, 14620 Shady Pine Road, Willow Hill, with Marlin “Butch” Neil, pastor, officiating. Interment will be made in Fannettsburg Reformed Church Cemetery, Fannettsburg.

Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, July 13, and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia.
