SHINNSTON — Audie Ray Adams, 86, of Apopka, Florida, passed away February 10, 2013, at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born on December 13, 1926, in Folsom, WV, the son of the late Okey Adams and Sylvia Snyder Adams.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marilu Frankovich Adams, in 2000 and a brother, Okey Adams Jr.

He is survived by his daughter, Karen and husband Matthew of South Lyon, MI; one granddaughter, Sharon Goins of South Lyon MI; one grandson, Kevin Price of Grand Blanc, MI; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a graduate of West Virginia University; he loved the Mountaineers. He was a past president of the Central Florida WVU Alumni Association where he spent countless hours with his Mountaineer fans. He was a retired educator and high school principal in Ohio.

Audie will be buried with full military honors accorded by the Harrison County Honor Guard. Family and friends will be received at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 S. Pike St., Shinnston, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., the time of service on Friday with Pastor Chad Hudson officiating. Private interment will follow at the Lumberport Lions Club Cemetery.
