Harvey Austin Adams, 88, was called home by the Lord on Dec. 29, 2008, at home with his wife at his side. Harvey was born Sept. 3, 1920, in Meridian, ID, to Lester and Viola Adams.
He was the seventh of ten siblings.
He served his country during World War II in the Army 11th Armored Division. Harvey served under Gen. George Patton in the European Theater.
Harvey met the love of his life, Beulah Gail Shuter, before he joined the Army. She waited for him to come home from the war and they were married Jan. 19, 1946.
Harvey hauled milk in 10 gallon cans from the local dairy farms to the Idaho Creamery in the 1950s.
Harvey and Beulah were blessed with twin daughters in 1950 who died at birth. Their daughter Gail was born in 1951, and son Harvey was born in 1953.
Harvey apprenticed as a stone mason to become a journeyman in 1961. He established Harvey Adams Masonry and worked many years throughout the state of Idaho. He retired in 1983.
Harvey and his sister Waneta spent many years catching "THE BIG ONES" at Cascade Lake. He loved to drive "Ol' Blue" to his favorite "fishin' hole", "Little Camas Reservoir".
Harvey was seriously injured in an automobile accident in 1972. After a near brush with death and miraculous healing, Harvey committed his life to Jesus Christ.
He was a member of the Community Christian Center for over thirty years. During that time, he sang in the Melody Makers Quartet, performing at the Boise Rescue Mission and numerous nursing homes. He loved to sing in the church choir and belonged to the building committee.
Harvey is survived by his wife of 62 years (less than a month shy of 63 years), Beulah; daughter Gail (and Bill) Thompson; son Harvey (and Sandy) Adams; eleven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Beverly Cheeney.
He was preceded in death by his parents, twin daughters, five brothers and three sisters.
Viewing will be Jan. 4, 2009 at Cloverdale Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Jan. 5, 2009 at Cloverdale Funeral Home with burial following at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
