She was born on Aug. 17, 1915, to John and Mary Siroky in Roy, Mont., and had 13 siblings. After completing eight years of school Abbie worked at home on the farm until the age of 17, then moved to Billings to work for two families doing housework and babysitting. She later moved to Hardin, Mont.
Abbie met Fred Abell in Hardin at the soda fountain where she worked. After three months Fred worked up enough nerve to ask Abbie for a date, and on July 29, 1938, eight months later, they were married. Over the years they had four children.
Abbie and Fred worked side by side at the plumbing shop they owned, Abbie working as secretary. They enjoyed many fishing and camping trips together throughout the years, and Abbie also enjoyed golfing. She was a great cook, and her dumplings will be greatly missed.
The last thing Abbie said to her son, Dale, was "Be sure to put the horses in the barn. It's cold out."
Abbie was preceded in death by her husband Fred of 62 years; son Ivan Abell; parents John and Mary Siroky; grandson Matthew Thayne; granddaughter Stephanie Abell; five sisters and six brothers.
She is survived by son Dale (Sandi) Abell of Billings; daughers Verna (Leroy) Uffelman of Huntley and Vera (Gary) Schaff of Billings; sister Joshephine Winter of California; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
