In 1439 he became Bishop of Paris and Patriarch of Antioch. He was Advisor of King Charles VII of France, Ambassador to Savoy and supported the schism of antipope Felix.
The antipope Félix V created him cardinal priest in the consistory of November 12, 1440. It is believed that he resigned his promotion.
