A funeral service for Frances C. Deal of Killeen will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Killeen.

Mrs. Deal was born in 1933 in San Antonio, and returned home to Killeen in 1995, where she lived out her life. At age 18, the U.S. Army tried to draft her. At age 19, she started working. She retired from Civil Service in 1995. In 1998, she went to work for the Killeen Police Department, retiring in February.

Mrs. Deal loved meeting new people and kept in touch with the old ones. She inspired the people she talked to and enjoyed life to its fullest. When asked what her greatest accomplishments were at her interview with KPD, Mrs. Deal replied, "My children." Mrs. Deal always said, "If you're going to drink, drink the good stuff." Heaven will now be decorated in purple.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Deal Sr.; children, Katherine Morgan, David Wallace, Wendy Harris, William Deal and David Deal; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements.
