Death of John Angove.
Another pioneer and esteemed resident, John Angove, has been summoned to his last home. He had been in failing health for a long time and death was a welcome relief to his sufferings. Mr. Angove came to Grass Valley about thirty years ago and followed mining nearly all his life. When the famous Eureka mine was worked he was shift-boss there and later held responsible positions in several mines. He leaves a wife, two sons (Richard and John, who are now in South Africa), and a daughter, Miss Bessie. John Angove was a square man in his walks through life and leaves many sincere friends who regret that he will not longer be with them. He was 55 years of age and a native of England. The funeral will take place this afternoon at 2 o'clock from the family residence on Alta street, under the auspices of Madison Lodge, F. and A. M., and Grass Valley Chapter, R. A. M., of which lodges he was a member. The remains will be taken to the Methodist church, where Rev. J. P. Macaulay will deliver a brief sermon. Interment will be at Masonic cemetery.
