George Bryant Adams, 49, of Vevay, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at his residence.

He was born Sept. 4, 1964, in Madison, to Arthur Bettens "Art" and Betty Jean Otter Adams. He was raised in Switzerland County and was a 1982 graduate of Switzerland County High School. He earned an associates degree in computer technology from Ivy Tech Community College in 1988. He was the former director for Switzerland County Emergency Management. He was formerly employed in safety and loss prevention for Dow Corning in Carrollton, Ky., from 1990 to 2003. He was also a former emergency medical technician for the King's Daughter's Emergency Medical Services for five years and for Hugh Garner Med Care Ambulance in Madison for several years. He was a reserve deputy sheriff for the Switzerland County Sheriff's Department and a former reserve policeman for the Vevay Police Department. He served on the Switzerland County EMS Board of Directors for 15 years. He was a member of the Florence Lodge 27 F.& A.M. and the Spring Branch Baptist Church. He was a primary emergency medical technician instructor for the State of Indiana and served on the education committee for the State of Indiana EMS. He was a lifetime member of the Switzerland County EMS, and a member of the Posey Fire Department and the Vevay Post 185 of the Sons of the American Legion. He enjoyed working and helping others. He also enjoyed spending time with is family, especially his children.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Lane Adams, whom he married May 16, 1987; two daughters, Stephanie Adams and Kristin Adams, both of Vevay; one son, George Kevin Adams of Vevay; one sister, Belinda Swanson of Madison; one brother, Tom Skirvin of Vevay; 11 nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his grandparents, Roy G. and Mable Carber Adams, and Royland A. "Roll" and Daisy McFarland Otter.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Burial will be in Vevay Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. A Masonic service will be conducted by Florence Lodge 27 F. & A.M. at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
