Arthur Bettens "Art" Adams, 72, of 774 State Road 156, Florence, died Sunday, March 19, 2006, at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.

He was born Dec. 3, 1933, in Switzerland County, the son of Roy G. and Mabel Carver Adams. He was a lifelong resident of the Florence community, and was employed as a master electrician in the maintenance department at the Indiana-Kentucky Electric Corp. Clifty Creek plant from 1965 to 1996.

He was an active participant in the Relay For Life of the American Cancer Society. He was a board member of the Florence Regional Sewer District in Florence; a 50-year member and past master of the Florence Masonic Lodge No. 27, F. & A.M.; and a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis, and of the Murat Shrine of Indianapolis. He was a life member of the Vevay American Legion Post No. 185, and a member of the Vevay Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5396 and the Dearborn County Voiture 612 of the 40/8. He served on the honor guards of Post 185 and Post 5396, and was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Surviving are one son, George Adams of Vevay; one daughter, Belinda Swanson of Vevay; one stepson, Tom Skirvin of Vevay; his mother, of Florence; two brothers, Richard Roy Adams of Florence and Frank D. Adams of Cincinnati; two sisters, Virginia Ann Adams of Cincinnati and Martha Lucille Adams of Columbus; one half sister, Emma Lou Adams of Carrollton, Ky.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, May 24, 1948; one brother, Robert Emerson Adams, Oct. 30, 1995; and one half brother, Charles Noble Adams.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay, with burial in Vevay Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Military rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion, Post 185 and the Vevay Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 5396.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Legion and VFW relief funds; Florence Masonic Lodge No. 27, F. & A.M.; or Relay For Life. Contribution cards are available at the funeral home.
