Virgil E. "Herb" Anderson, 77, of Streator, died February 6, 2006 at Camelot Terrace in Streator.

Mr. Anderson was born July 7, 1928 in Sparland to Veach and Bethel (Nation) Anderson. He married Lois Jean McCauley on September 2, 1948.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II and retired from Local 82. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Streator and attended Sparland High School.

He is survived by his wife; five daughters: Christina (Donald III) Defenbaugh of Baltimore, Maryland; Laura Anderson, Marcia (John) Hallam, and Cynthia (Bruce) North, all of Streator; and Jacalyn Anderson of Moneta, Virginia; a son: Eric Eugene Anderson of Streator; a sister: Geneva Kirby of Mackinaw; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son: Patrick Miles Anderson; four brothers: Ralph, Myles, Lyle and Emery; and two sisters: Lucille Caldwell and Thelma Theide.
