Franklyn Bean, age 83, of 714 13th St., Lacon, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at St. Joseph Nursing Home in Lacon.

He was born Dec. 31, 1926, in Lacon to the late Clarence and Ruth (Tamblyn) Bean. He married Barbara Jackson on Aug. 28, 1951, in Toluca. She survives.

He is also survived by two sons, Franklyn Bean Jr. of Lacon, Bryan (Sherri) Bean of Wagoner, Okla.; and one daughter, Jayne Deffenbaugh of Mossville.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Kenneth Lee Bean, and five sisters.

He served in the United States Army during WW II.

Frank was employed at the Lacon Woolen Mill, Leo Huck's Village Tap, Hofer Lanes in Henry and worked as a laborer in construction.

He was a member of the Lacon American Legion Post 593 and was involved in the construction of the new Post 593 building on 4th Street on the Illinois River. He was also a member of ABC Bowling Congress and was an avid golfer.

Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no services. Interment will be in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
