ALDRED, Violet Evelyn

June 11, 1919 – September 9, 2013

Born in Crossroads, Country Harbour, Nova Scotia, Vi passed away peacefully in her sleep at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital Palliative Care Unit.

She was predeceased by Wilf, her husband of 52 years, and her daughter and best friend, June (Jim) Salmon.

Vi is survived by her son, John (Marilyn); grandchildren: Michael (Emily), Shannon (Sebastien), Matthew (Kristina), and Mason (Melissa); and great grandchildren: Anna, Mackenzie Violet, and Emerson.

Mom left Nova Scotia at an early age when the family moved out west to Kamloops. She spent her grade five school year there. The family then moved to Clayburn in the Fraser Valley where she finished high school while helping on the family farm. She then moved back to Kamloops where she graduated as an R.N. at Royal Inland Hospital. Her next move was to Nanaimo where she worked first at the old hospital on Kennedy Street and later at NRGH. As a young nurse, she met Dad and was happily married until Dad's passing in 1995.

Dad and Mom provided a home that created many great memories for family and friends alike.

Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to NRGH Palliative Care Unit. A Tea will be held at the family residence on Saturday, September 21st from 2-4 pm.
