Evelyn E. (Eckley) Babinchock, age 83 of 408 W. Coal St., Shenandoah passed away peacefully on Sunday at Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street, Pottsville with her family by her side.

Born in Lower William Penn, West Mahanoy Township on August 26, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Henry and Nora (Blewis) Eckley.

She was a 1945 graduate of the former West Mahanoy Township High School.

Evelyn was a retired garment worker having worked in many local dress factories. She was last employed at Alma Dress Co. of Shenandoah.

She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church, Shenandoah and the ILGWU. She was a former member of St. George's Church, Shenandoah. In earlier years, she was actively involved with fundraising events for the William Penn Fire Company.

She enjoyed polkas and danced many in her younger life.

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were here husband, Frank E. Babinchock on January 10, 2005; one brother, Henry Eckley; and four sisters, Myrtle Eckley, Joan Sherpensky, Naomi Spagnolo and Jean Eckley.

Surviving are a daughter, Donna M. wife of Louis Kowalski of Ringtown; a son, Francis J. Babinchock and his wife Ann of Medford Lakes, NJ; three cherished grandsons, Christopher Kowalski and Kevin Kowalski both of Ringtown and Keith Kowalski of Shenandoah; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews; cousins and many dear friends.
