He was a professor in an area of mathematics, and taught some type of mechanical engineering. His students were generally persons dedicated to the care of machinery. It is known that he was teaching in Venice, Italy at the time of the birth of his son, Guido, in 1879.
At one time he taught at the Squola Dei Macchinisti (Machine School) in Venice.
