ACHTERHOF RITES TO BE HELD MONDAY
Oceana Board of Supervisors to Attend Funeral in a Body

Hart, June 23—Funeral services for Jacob Achterhof, 53 years old, former supervisor and superintendent of the poor in Oceana County will be held Monday.

A short service will be held at the home in Ferry at 1 p.m. and a church service at the Hart E. Church at 2 p.m. with Rev. L. W. Sower in charge.

Bearers will be six of Mr. Achterhof's I. O. O. F. lodge brothers from Ferry, Carl Wenk, William Wenk, Ray Decker, Lester Adams, Milo Sumner, and John Bowers. Burial will be in Hart.

The county board of supervisors plans to attend in a body and other officers of the county and prominent political leaders of both parties are expected to be present.

Mr. Achterhof was born in North Holland, September 23, 1880, and came to New Era as a boy. He had lived most of his life in Oceana County. He married Mrs. Jennie Chrisman of Fennville 25 years ago. Besides the widow, three children and two stepchildren, his mother, Mrs. Martha Vanden Bosh of Zeeland, three sisters, Mrs. Dan Meeuwseen and Mrs. William Graff of Zeeland and Mrs. Earl Van Syoc of Grand Rapids, a brother, Otto, of Zeeland, and nine grandchildren survive.

OCEANA HEADS AT FINAL RITES FOR ACHTERHOF

Hart, June 26---Oceana County officers, the board of supervisors, and scores of friends from all sections of the county were present here yesterday to pay their last respects to Jacob Achterhof, veteran county official, who died in University hospital last Friday.

The funeral was held in the Methodist church yesterday afternoon, with Rev. L.W. Sower, pastor of the Ferry Methodist Church, in charge. Rev. Sower paid tribute to Mr. Achterhof's career in the public service and his life in Oceana.

Mr Achterhof, who was 53 years old, was for several years supervisor of Ferry Township, where he had made his home for 14 years secretary of the superintendents of the poor.

In a resolution yesterday, the board of supervisors expressed appreciation for Mr. Achterhof's service to the county and sympathy for the members of his family. A copy of the resolution will be sent to the widow.
