Martha Ann Abner, 73, of Ellenboro, WV departed this life on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at her residence, following an extended illness.

Martha was born May 5, 1941 in Knoxville, TN, a daughter of the late Dudley and Hattie (Majors) Hammond. She spent her life as a loving and caring homemaker for her family. Martha greatly enjoyed sewing & knitting, making quilts, playing the piano, shopping, and traveling; especially to the Smokey Mountains. She was a member of the Church of God and has been a devoted and dedicated minister’s wife for the past 50 years and greatly enjoyed teaching children’s church.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Rev. Ruford Abner; children, Ruford Abner, Jr. (Connie) of Morehead, KY; Gina Hester (Michael) of W. Alexandria, OH; Tim Abner (Margaret) of Ellenboro, WV; Pam Pritchard (Keith) of Florence, SC; grandchildren, Marie, Michael, Brooke, Joseph, Tyler, Cody, Rebekah, Hannah, Tracy, Whitney, and Alec; 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Gary & James, and her sisters, Patricia, Faye, Portia, and Vickie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Dudley Abner and granddaughters, Courtney Abner and Stephanie & Hope Ann Hester.

Funeral services will be 1pm, Friday, March 27, 2015, at McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro, WV with Rev. Joyce Hill and Anthony Abner officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Harmony Masonic Cemetery, Pennsboro.
