Louis A. Pompei was a Police Officer for the Police Department in Glendora, California. He died in the line of duty at age 30, after 8 years with the Agency, Off-duty at the time, stopped at a local Supermarket after work on his way home to pick up dog food. He was in line getting ready to check out, when an armed robber ordered everyone to the floor. Tho everyone complied, the gunman pistol-whipped a mentally-disabled employee. Officer Pompei intervened, not seeing a second shooter behind him. He was shot in the chest, stomach, and leg, tho mortally wounded, he managed to get himself to a pay phone and dialed 9-1-1. He then collapsed, he died later at the hospital after surgery in San Dimas. There were three suspects involved. Daniel Hernandez-19, planned the robbery and drove the getaway car. He was given 26 years in Prison. The two store shooters was Robert Ramirez-17, and Larry Hernandez-16, the drivers brother, they were tried as adults and given Life Sentences without parole. He was the youngest of six children. He graduated MaHanoy High School in 1982 in Pensylvania. Survived by his Fiance, Tracey Taylor, a mother Dorothy, three brothers and two sisters.
