Thomas was the 8th of 8 children born to John COCKERLINE (1797-1875) & Mary Ann JACKSON (1803-1869) of Henrysburg, Canada East. The family Bible gives his birthdate as June 2nd, 1846 and baptismal records indicate he was baptized at Henrysburg on April 22nd, 1851. In the 1851 and 1871 census records, Thomas was enumerated living with his parents. When his father died in 1875, Thomas took over the family farm where he was enumerated there in subsequent census records.
On June 27th, 1878 he married Sophia Hannah PAINE at Henrysburg. From the Quebec Vital and Church Records:
Thomas COCKERLINE, a bachelor of Parish of Lacolle, Quebec, a Farmer, age thirty-two, Ann Sophia PAINE, of Parish of Lacolle, Quebec, a spinster, age twenty five, were united in Matrimony by me at Henrysburg, Quebec by authority of License on the twenty-seventh day of June eighteen hundred and seventy eight in the presence of subscribing witnesses, by me, S.J. HUGHES.
Thomas & Sophia had one child, Hewson Paine COCKERLINE, born June 16th, 1879. Thomas died December 31st, 1911 and was buried in the Henrysburg Cemetery on January 3rd, 1912. From the tombstone:
