James Eugene Brasser, 78, of Doniphan, Missouri, departed this life on Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Mr. Brasser, son of Irvin and Vivian Brasser, was born September 27, 1936, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. He had retired from the U. S. Postal Service. Mr. Brasser was retired military having served for 2 years in the U.S. Army and 18 years in the U.S. Air Force. He had tours of duty in both Korea and Viet Nam.

Mr. Brasser was a member of the Lions club, American Legion, and the V.F.W. where he frequently helped with Tuesday night Bingo. He also taught hunter safety education classes and enjoyed watching the daily news.

On June 22, 1957, he was married to Phyllis Jane Sweitzer in Gary Indiana, and she survives.

Also surviving are 4 children: Wayne Brasser of Oxly, Missouri, Londa Brasser Hobbs of West Plains, Missouri, Steven Brasser of Doniphan and Jeffery Brasser of Ozark, Missouri; one sister, Paula Doman of Tennessee; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers.

Visitation will be held Sunday evening, January 18, 2015, from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will take place Monday morning, January 19, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Randy Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Pope Chapel Cemetery.
