Mary G. Abare, 81, of Burlington died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, in Fletcher Allen Health Care. She was born in Winooski on Sept. 25, 1922, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Ponessa) Caforia. Mary was a graduate of Winooski High School, Class of 1942. Feb. 7, 1948, she married Robert G. Abare in St. Stephen Church in Winooski. He predeceased her Oct. 23, 1991. Mary had been an Avon representative in the North End for many years. She also worked at Flynn School with the school lunch program. She was a member of St. Mark's parish. Mary was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and a best friend to many. She was an avid bingo player. She is survived by her son, Robert G. Abare II of Burlington; three grandchildren, Justin Abare of Essex, Erika Guilbault of Manchester, N.H, and Lauren Guilbault of Burlington; her son-in-law, James P. Guilbault of Burlington; a sisterin-law, Dawn Savard of Winooski; and nieces and nephews who include, Arlene and Carl White of Winooski; and close and dear friends, Bernice Shanks and Rita Ouellette of Burlington. She was predeceased by her daughter Deborah Guilbault on Feb. 4, 2003, and by a brother, Joseph Caforia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m. in St. Mark Roman Catholic Church with interment to follow in Resurrection Park Cemetery, South Burlington. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association, 1110 Prim Road, Colchester, Vt. 05446. There will be no visiting hours. Arrangements are in the care of the Ready Funeral Home, North Chapel, 934 North Ave.
