Arthur Edward Abare, 82, of 92 Intervale Road died Tuesday Nov. 28, 1989, at the Medical Center Hospital of Vermont. He was born April 10, 1907 in Shelburne, the son of Emery and Ida (Laforce) Abare. He had been employed on dairy farms in Charlotte, Hinesburg, and Burlington till his retirement in 1976. During his retirement he enjoyed writing poetry, watching sports and reminiscing. His gentleness and love of people and animals will be remembered by all who loved him. He leaves his wife of 40 years, the former Esther Lafrance of Burlington; his son Neil Abare of Richmond; his daughter Nancy Curtis of Vergennes, one grand-daughter Jill Curtis of Burlington; two grandsons; Jay Curtis of Vergennes and Rob Curtis and his wife Lori of Ferrisburg; one great grand-daughter Katlin Lor Curtis, of Ferrisburg; his brother Carls Abare of Colchester; two sisters Ethel Barrows and Helen Goulette, both of Burlington, and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and loving friends. He was predeceased by two sisters; Virginia Hutchins and Catherine Derouchie.A mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m.
