The funeral of David Adams, Shamrock, was held at Longswamp church on Wednesday. Mr. Adams was a son of Daniel Adams and wife Leah (Rishel) and was born in Longswamp on January 26, 1844. He was baptized by Rev. Jeremiah Schindel on March 9, 1844. The parents were sponsors. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Longswamp by Rev. E. H. Sell on May 25, 1866. He was joined in marriage to Sarah Anna Long on June 10, 1871, at Fogelsville by Rev. William T. Helfrich, D.D. Two sons, Samuel N. and Amandus, died young. The deceased was a farmer south of Mertztown for many years. Upon the death of his wife he made his home with an adopted daughter, Alice Eck, now wife of John O. Reinert, of this place, where he was tenderly cared for during his prolonged illness. He passed away on Thursday, October 18, aged 84 years, 8 months and 22 days. There survive two brothers, Irvin, Mahanoy City, and Joseph, Reading.
