Former Staten Islander Margaret Amitrano, 89, of Loudon, Tennessee, a retired College of Staten Island worker, died Monday at her home.

Born Margaret Devito in Brooklyn, she worked as a seamstress and later moved on to clothing sales. In 1964, she moved to Oakwood and began working in the admissions department at the College of Staten Island. She retired in 1989 and moved to Florida. In 2009, she settled in Loudon.

She enjoyed helping her children and buying gifts for her children and grandchildren. She also loved music and playing cards with her husband and their friends.

Her husband of forty-seven years, Pasquale, died in 1990.

She is survived by two sons, Robert and Mitchell; two daughters, Marjorie and Patricia; two sisters, Josephine Bruno and Ann Sarchaphone; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held on Friday from the Colonial Funeral Home, New Dorp, with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady Queen of Peace R.C. Church, New Dorp.
Burial will follow in Woodbridge (New Jersey) Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
