Kirk Ray Wirey, 54, of Oblong, IL passed away at 2:20 PM on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 surrounded by his family at his home. Born on July 7, 1960 in Vincennes, IN, he was the son of William and Louette (Moore) Wirey. On June 27, 2009 he married Donna Jane McIntosh and she survives.
Kirk was a member of the Oblong High School Class of 1979; a union carpenter with the Carpenter’s Local #243, Champaign, IL. Kirk enjoyed woodworking and riding his Harley.
Survivors include his wife, Donna of Oblong; three sons and daughters-in-law, Chad and Claire Wirey, Hardinville, IL; Joseph and Tina Wirey, Robinson, IL and Nicholas Wirey, Oblong, IL; a daughter and son-in-law Athena and Derek Tuel, Robinson, IL; a stepson and step daughter-in-law, Thomas and Erin Rice, Rockville, IN and a step daughter and step son-in-law Michelle and Tyler Davis, Robinson, IL; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Keith and Rita Wirey, Oblong, IL; Kenneth and Debbie Valle, Graysville, IN; William and Jeanine Wirey, Clarksville, TN and Marlin Wirey, Robinson, IL; a sister Betty Schlosser, Oblong, IL; 9 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and two very special pets, Petey and Java.
Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters, Perna Wirey and Billie Wirey Bowen.
A casual gathering of friends and family will be held from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at the Pulliam Funeral Home in Oblong, IL. A Celebration of Kirk’s Life service will be held at 7 PM on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at the funeral home with the eulogy given by Kirk’s family. Burial will be held at a later date in the Kirk Cemetery, rural Robinson, IL.
