Mr. Max R. Wait, age 88, of Robinson, IL, died Saturday March 12, 2016 at 7:50 AM at the Magnolia Center, Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL, following many years of declining health.
Born February 29, 1928 in Robinson, IL, he was the son of Albert “Bert” and Mary (Collier) Wait who both preceded him in death. On November 6, 1948 he married Norma Jean (Phillips) and she preceded him in death April 26, 2006. Also preceding him in death were six brothers, Clyde V., Lyle, Lance, Harold, Keith and Rex; four sisters Bonnie Higgins, Irma Wait, Nina Wait and Mary Spade and son-in-law Ronald Fouty in 2007.
Max served in the US Navy during WWII; he worked for the State of Illinois, Department of Transportation for twenty years; was a Conductor for Illinois Central Railroad for eight years; worked construction for ten years in various locations and was a Crawford County Deputy Sheriff for two years. He was a member of Robinson Masonic Lodge #250, Robinson, IL and was a 32nd degree Mason belonging to the Scottish Rite Bodies at Danville, IL.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Fouty, Robinson, IL; grandchildren, Jeff Fouty, Robinson, IL; Jamie and Doug Inboden, Robinson, IL; Jody and Kevin Martin, Marshall, IL, nine great grandchildren and several great, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews survive as well.
Max spent his last few years living at the Magnolia Center in Crawford Memorial Hospital where he was very active in games, crafts and assisting with the various church services held there.
Visitation for Max Ray Wait will be Wednesday March 16, 2016 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm when funeral services will be conducted with Richard Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Kirk Chapel Cemetery, rural Robinson, IL. Max & Norma were great supporters of the RHS Academic Foundation and the family requests that memorial donations in memory of them go to the RHS Academic Foundation with envelopes available at the funeral home.
