Donald Chapman, 81, Robinson, died Tuesday morning at his residence of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Born May 23, 1907, he was a son of Mervin A. and Faye Matheny Chapman. He worked at Briggs Plumbingware in Robinson for 25 years and retired from L.S. Heath and Sons.
He married Juanita Stanley and she survives. He is also survived by two sons, John Chapman, Robinson, and Bob Chapman, Orlando, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Homer (Doris) French, Newton and Mrs. Ralph (Lois) Funck, Rolling Meadows; a stepson, Harold Miller, Robinson; three sisters, Mildred Bolt, Avon Park, Fla., Lorene Good, Effingham and Zola Winn, Westfield; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Susan Diane Miller on Feb. 21, 1987; a sister, Bernice Ulrey and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Friday at Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson with Rev. Jack Clay and Steve Batman officiating. Burial is in Kirk Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday and until service time Friday at the funeral home.
