Robert Lee Spade, 72, of Robinson, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 1996, at his home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson, with Rev. George R. Miller and Rev. Clinton Batcheller officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Masonic services at 8 p.m. performed by Robinson Masonic Lodge #250, followed by services of the Sons of the American Revolution. Burial will be in the Kirk Cemetery in Robinson. Military graveside services will be conducted by Robinson VFW Post #4549, Robinson American Legion Post #69 and the Amvets Post #33.

Memorials can be made to the Robinson First Baptist Church Memorial Fund.

Spade was born Feb. 8, 1924, in Robinson, the son of Hoyt L. and Leah M. (Bolds) Spade. He married Mary Elizabeth Wait June 16, 1946. She survives.

He was a dispatcher for Marathon Oil Company in Champaign and Robinson and a terminal supervisor in Columbus, Ga., retiring in 1983 after 40 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of Robinson First Baptist Church, Robinson VFW Post #4549, the Robinson Elks Lodge #1188, Robinson Masonic Lodge #250, the Ainad Shrine of East St. Louis, the Danville Consistory, the Kathryn Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Sons of the American Revolution.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Timothy D. Spade, of Robinson; twin sisters, Betty Miller and her husband, James, of Washington, and Mary Small and her husband, Boyd, of Vincennes, Ind.; a brother, Harold Spade, and his wife, Doris, of Toledo, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Max Wait, of Robinson; a grandson, Robert Lee "Beau" Spade II, of Robinson; and a granddaughter, Rebekah Elizabeth "Becky ' Spade, of Olney.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Ernest Spade, and three infant brothers.
