Frances Emma Griswold, daughter of Oliver and Lydia Purcell, was born in Crawford County, Illinois, in New Hebron, January 18, 1855, and made her departure from earth May 26, 1943, at her home South of Robinson at the age of 88 years, 4 months and 8 days.

She was united in marriage to Newton Griswold, January 5, 1886. They spent their entire life at the old farm home South of Robinson, excepting a few years they spent in Robinson. To this union were born two children, Elsie Stanley, South of Robinson, and Ruel of Panama City, Florida.

Early in life she became a member of the United Brethren Church of New Hebron. Her husband preceded her in death January 24, 1942, also her father, mother, three brothers namely Daniel, Marion and William Purcell, two great grandchildren, William Jr, and Myrtle Irene McIntosh, grand-daughter Oddesa Stanley.

She leaves to mourn besides her children, nine grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. One grandson, Lyle Eugene Griswold, who is now honorably serving his state and nation as a member of the U. S. Navy somewhere on the Atlantic Ocean.
