Roma Yvonne Edwards Buchanan, age 75, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2012 in Pensacola, Florida where she resided for 38 years. A native of Graham County, N.C., she was born December 12, 1936 to the late Clyde Jackson and Daisy Dare Massey Edwards.
Roma graduated from Robbinsville High School in 1955 and later became a proud Navy wife, accompanying Maxwell to various duty stations during his naval service including San Diego, CA, Charleston, S.C., Tehran, Iran, Schenectady, N.Y. and finally Pensacola, FL. Roma enjoyed her travels during Max's time in the Navy. She especially enjoyed their two year stay in Iran.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Hyde Greene; brothers, Maurice Edwards, Harry Edwards and Paul Edwards and a baby sister.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Maxwell Allen Buchanan; brothers and their wives, Marvin (Tump) and Annette Edwards, Douglas and Linda Edwards; sister-in-laws, Lavada Crisp, Denise Patterson and husband, Carl; aunt, Marie Hampton; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Services will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, September 28, 2012 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South with visitation from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. The Reverends Joe Gwyn and Brian Nott will officiate.
Additional services will be held in Robbinsville, N.C. at a later date with burial in the Massey Family Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Height Baptist Church, 600 Pickens Avenue, Pensacola, FL 32503.
