Almey Huey Gray
Almey Huey Gray, 71, of Stumpy Point, died Thursday, May 10, at the Outer Banks Hospital in Nags Head. A native of Stumpy Point, he was the son of the late Percy O. Gray and Lydia Cahoon Gray and the husband of Patricia McCabe Gray of the home. He was a retired chief petty officer with the U.S. Coast Guard and was an honorary Kentucky Colonel. Also surviving are a daughter, Annie Gray-Clark of Manteo; three sons, Almey Gray of Stumpy Point, Glenn Gray of Kill Devil Hills, and Darrell Gray of Newport, RI; a sister, Rose Suter of Ellicott City, MD; and seven grandchildren, Denise Geer, Almey Roy Gray, Trevor Clark, Glenn C. Gray, Tyner Gray, Evan Gray and Logan Gray. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 14, at the Bayview Chapel in Stumpy Point with Rev. John DeCarmo and Rev. Sue Farlow officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Bayview Chapel, or the Shiloh United Methodist Church, Stumpy Point, NC 27960.
