Yrinea was a daughter of Ignacio Villarreal and Manuela de la Garza. Her brother, Gregorio Villarreal, purchased in 1872 the La Encantada and Encino del Pozo land grants in what is now southern Brooks County, Texas. The two land grants comprised 9 sitios, or approximately 39,856 acres. In 1873, Yrinea's husband Juan Longoria purchased one of those sitios (about 4428 acres) in southern Brooks County from his brother-in-law.
