Duke. Jean Marie de Bourbon, son of Louis Jean Marie de Bourbon, Duke of Penthièvre, and his wife Maria Teresa Felicitas d'Este, was born at the Hôtel de Toulouse in Paris. He was the descendant of King Louis XIV of France and his mistress Madame de Montespan on both sides of his family. His father was their grandson, and his mother was their great-granddaughter. At birth, Jean Marie received the title of Duke of Châteauvillain. His father was one of the wealthiest men in Europe. However, his mother died in 1754, and he followed her the next year. His initial resting place was Saint-Lubin, the village church of Rambouillet. His final burial site was the Chapelle Royale de Dreux, which had been renovated and renamed by his nephew Louis Philippe, King of the French.
