Actor. Andreev played simple, good-natured fellows; in these and later films he embodied the sincere generosity and expansiveness of the Russian national character. Other such roles included Sasha Sintsov (Two Fighters, 1943) and Burliuk (Story of the Siberian Land, 1948). During the 1950's, dramatic roles were preeminent in his repertoire. His best performances were as Savva Zarudnyi (Poem of the Sea, 1958), Lazar' Baukin (Cruelty, 1959), General Glazunov (Tale of the Fiery Years, 1961), and Rossomakha (Road to the Moorage, 1962).
