FRANK J. ABATE, 85, of Teaneck, formerly of Staten Island, died Friday. Before retiring in 1966, he was a foreman at Bethlehem Steel Foundry, Staten Island, for 30 years. He was a life member of the Great Kills Yacht Club and the U.S. Power Squadron, both on Staten Island. He was a past commander of the Staten Island Power Squadron and a life member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Surviving are a brother, Anthony; and two sisters, Conchetta Abate and Angela DiGennaro. Mass will be said Tue sday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption R.C. Church, with burial in Moravian Cemetery, both on Staten Island. Visiting will be today and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Meislohn-Silvie Funeral Home, Staten Island. Donations to the St. Mar y of the Assumption Church Restoration Fund, Richmond Terrace, Staten Island, N.Y. 10302, would be appreciated.
