David E. Andrews Sr., 74 of Davenport Center, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2008 at the Stratton Veteran's Administration Hospital in Albany. David was born January 28, 1934 in Amsterdam, New York., the son of Joseph and Oleta (Babcock) Andrus. He married Frances Mary (Cuozzo) Andrews on May 2, 1957 in Edmeston, New York. He retired as a laborer with the New York State Dept. of Transportation, he also served in the United State Marine Corps during the Korean era. He enjoyed hunting, raising pigs, and participating in numerous activities with his family. He is survived by his Wife, Frances of Davenport Center, five daughters; Connie Folds and her husband Flip of Hartwick, NY., Francie Callahan and her husband Larry of Schenectady, NY., Leta Winters of Ocala, Florida, Lillian Eldred and her husband Donald of Front Royal, Virginia, Lorna Jean Pozeg and her husband Peter of Fredricksburg, Virginia, three sons; David Andrews Jr., and his wife Alberta of Front Royal, Virginia, Frank Wayne Andrews of Davenport Center, Joseph John Andrews and his wife Kristie of Front Royal, Virginia. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is survived by his two sisters, Donna Jean Rider and her husband Keith of Davenport Center and Elizabeth Townsend of Oneonta., his three sisters in law; Catherine Andrews of Mt. Vision and Elaine Andrews of Oneonta., and Trudy Cuozzo of Omaha, Nebraska. He was predeceased by a daughter; Lucy Ann Harris, two brothers, Wayne and Richard Andrews, two grandchildren, Christopher Riley Andrews and Donald Carl Eldred III. One great grandchild, Katie Max Folds, a step father, John Sargent, and his beloved grand mother; Bertha Meeker.
Friends may call at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta on Thursday, September 11, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at which time the family will be in attendance. A prayer service will be offered on Friday September 12. 2008 at 11:00am, with the Rev. Don Yarborough, Pastor of the Community Gospel Church of Oneonta, officiating. Burial will follow at the Stamford Cemetery with military honors.
