He was born in Westville, Fla., and was a lifelong resident of Northwest Florida. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Crestview; Masonic Lodge No. 50 in Crestview, York Rite Bodies and Hadji Shrine Temple in Pensacola, Fla. Hugh was one of the committee members of the building committee for First United Methodist Church when constructed. He also was very generous to his church and other churches in the community.
Hugh was the owner of the Hugh W. Adams Building Supply in Crestview for 35 years. He retired in 1978 due to health problems. A loving and devoted and generous father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mattie G. Adams of Crestview; daughter and son-in-law, Janis and Dennis Griffin of Crestview; grandchildren, Dennis Griffin Jr. and Karla G. Solesbee; great-grandchild, Alexander Solesbee; and numerous cousins in the area.
Funeral services will be conducted at First United Methodist Church in Crestview at 3 p.m. Sunday with the Revs. John Wesley Spivey and Jerry May officiating. Burial will follow in Live Oak Memorial Park Cemetery in Crestview.
