Orem Rita May Behunin Alvey, 84, of Orem, died Saturday, March 19, 1994 at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, of natural causes.

She was born August 3, 1909 in Fruita, Utah a daughter of Isaac Martin and Julia Ellen Cook Behunin. She married George M. Alvey, Dec. 28, 1933 in Richfield, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple. She was a member of the Mt. Timapnogos 2nd Ward where she had been active the Relief Society.

She was a talented seamstress and interior decorator. She enjoyed gardening. She was a granddaughter of Isaac Cutler Behunin who was sent by Brigham Young to colonize the Capitol Reef area.

Surviving are her husband of Orem; one son and one daughter. Leon B. Alvey, San Francisco, Calif.; Mrs James (Yuvonne) Nixdorf, North Ogden; two grandchildren, five great grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers and three sisters, Matthew Behunin, Bluffdale; Otto Behunin, Salt Lake City; Leland Behunin, Orem; Lila Miller, Sacramento, Calif.; Oma Petrillo, Pinebrook, N.J.; and Iva Mulford, Kearns. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Maureen; six brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Myers Mortuary Chapel in Ogden, with Bishop Guenter officiating. Friends may call at the mortuary Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment in the North Ogden Cemetery.
