Mark Leon Allred

August 23, 1941 ~ January 28, 2017

Last Saturday evening there was wonderful reunion in Heaven as our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend was welcomed home by so many loved ones.

Mark was born in Idaho Falls, ID to Juston Peter and Isabell Robinson Allred as the youngest of their seven children. Soon after, the family moved to the Ogden Valley for a short time before settling in Harrisville, where Mark was fortunate to grow up and become part of a large group of lifelong friends.

Mark was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and has held numerous callings. He served in the Southern States Mission where he made wonderful friends that he always considered to be his South Carolina family.

In 1963, Mark married Konra Deem and together they had Marnie (infant), Chad Mark, Robert Kyle, and Tyson Crale. They were later divorced, but have always remained good friends.

In 1977, Mark was given the opportunity to work in Kuwait for six months which was an eye-opening experience of the cultures in that part of the world. Soon after returning to Utah he was setup on a blind date that changed the rest of his life! Mark married his soul-mate, Julia Ann Cottrell on June 17, 1978, and she and Monica became part of his family. They were later sealed together in the Ogden LDS Temple. Soon Danielle and Clint Juston came along to complete their family.

Mark was able to start his own business selling animal health products that eventually grew into manufacturing products for mainly performance horses. In the process of growing the business Mark and Julie were able to travel and work with customers all over the country.

Mark was a kind and caring man who loved his family more than anything. He loved welcoming new babies into the family, watching them grow, and being proud of all their accomplishments. He was excited to know that new ones were on the way. When Mark and Julie built their home, he made sure there was room for an apartment for her mother, who lived with them for over 25 years. They loved each other, and Violet always joked about him being her “favorite”. He enjoyed golf, travel, and spending time and lunches out with family and friends.

A degenerative muscle disease gradually left him in a wheelchair and in constant pain, but he was always cheerful and willing to help others in any way he could.

Mark is survived by his wife, Julie; children, Chad (Shelby) Allred, Tyson Allred, Monica (Clint) Larson, Danielle (James) Pedersen, and Clint (Heather) Allred; daughter-in-law, Kelly (Chris) Ward; brother, Gale (Joan) Allred; mother-in-law, Violet Cottrell; also 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren with two on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Grant and Blaine; sisters, Iola Carpenter, Norma Shaw, and Verina Willard; children, Marnie (infant), and Rob.

Mark’s family would like to express their thanks to IHC Home Health and Hospice for their kind and loving services.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden.
